    Designing your own logo

    Here's an area where I have an idea, but don't know the steps to implement it! Bet I'm not alone. Most of us with a section of freelance RR would like to have our own decals right? A price I saw awhile back was $30 for the first sheet, cheaper after that. That's with YOUR logo! If you have them design one for you, it's $45 hr for the artwork. So having the art to take to the decal maker will save some bucks. For the freelance logging area on my layout the lokies will belong to the "Schell Mountain Timber & Tie Co". What I want for decals amounts to an upside down "Smith & Wesson" logo. Just the "SM" part and then "Timber & Tie Co" spelled out beside it. Any artist types out there think they can CAD such a thing for me? I can visualize it but can't draw it!

    Hey Bucks, I've got all the software for this you can shake a stick at! Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Pagemaker plus AutoSketch CAD. Send me a sketch, scan, of your artwork and I'll see what I can throw together for you. You've seen the one I did for mine on my website. All the artwork on my main website is mine. In another life I spent 40 years in the graphics design business including 10 owning my own printing company.

      Gee thanks Walt! If you run a search for "Smith and Wesson" you'll see plenty of logos. I'm thinking of an "upside down" one with "Timber & Tie Ry" spelled out to the right of the logo in "old time western" style fonts.

          Hi Paul. Thanks for the effort! The S&W logo is mainly just an S and W overlapping each other. Wish I knew the name of the script......

              Russ my friend you nailed it! Maybe the circled one with "Timber and Tie" in that old time western script like on saloons and such in the 1800s? Wow, great job!

                  Ok all you ingenous types,my turn to ask for help. The GRANDE VALLEY RR has used a logo like this-GVR- ever since 1978.I wish to change it to the CN-GTW wet noodle type font with the letters joined at the top.The only problem is it doesn't seem to exist anywhere but on their equipment .Anybody want to take a shot at it.

                    Catt, it is indeed a difficult type font to find. I made my own by modifying a futuristic type font and here are the results:

                        Feel free to use it Catt! I am glad that you like it. I think that the new widecab that you are working on would look great with that logo emblazoned on the side.

                          Well guys, would you mind one more??

                          I've actually been trying since 1981 to come up with this but it would be similiar to an italized CSF. Kinda like the TP&W logo of the late 70's early 80's.

                          I would love some help!

                            Here is one similar to the TP&W logo. If this is not what you had in mind, let me know and I will redesign it.

                              Thanks, Russ! Not to be picky but I'm thinking all caps with an ampersand somewhere in the open space on the "C".
