  • McCloud River Railroad

Hi all! Since I model the McCloud River and sometimes info is hard to find for a somewhat "obscure" shortline, I thought I'd start this thread. Anybody with photos or web pages or ANYTHING related to the McRRR, please post it here and I'll be beholdin' to ya! Thanks

You are welcome. You know, for a RR that has been around for a long time, you would think that there would be a lot more fans.

There's a few fans locally here in the Redding area. I'm not sure if it's very well known on the east coast altho' McCloud River cars have been spotted over there. It's no giant, that's for sure!

I have seen one or two cars here in Queens , in the local yard. They weren't the nice white cars with the bear and mountain logo, but rather some plain brown XM's

Russ, do you also have a modeling interest in the McRRR?

No modeling plans for the McRRR for me. My interest is that of a railfan (Of course I am not saying that I wouldn't model it) Hopefully I will get to visit soon. McCloud and Alaska are the 2 that I am aiming for when I eventually get to the west coast.

                  Happy Railroading

Well when you make it out here, look me up and we'll go ride behind McRRR 2-6-2 #25!

Sounds like a plan! I would also like to see the layout.

                      Happy Railroading!

Is this going to be 'the page' in preference to the 'Neighbours' one on the HO forum??

just wondering as I posted some links to McRRR diesel rosters on the other one.

Drew, be sure to check out this site! It's the best one of current MR photos I've found. Thanks Russ I hadn't seen the new additions to that site. Pretty impressive N scale modeling!

BTW Russ my friend, was it you that was asking about the McRRR "logo" colors on the side of #28? At any rate, as near as I can tell from a video I have, the large "sign" part is red with either see thru lettering or "chrome" lettering. (Hard to tell on the video I have because of sunlight glinting off the side)) The basic colors of the unit itself look to be "UP yellow" under the red stripe and grey above the stripe. I'm going to McCloud soon on a photo expedition and maybe I can ask someone.

Oh and let's make this the "official MR page".
