Ken or anyone know if somone makes hydrocal brick in sheets for HO scale. I have a structure that will need to be scratchbuilt and it might be fun to use hydrocal brick.

I really like how you can chip away areas to make it look so realistic.

Karl, it is 1/2" to the foot or somewhere between 1/24th and 1/25th.

Tim, I don't know of any but you might want to get ahold of Randy at Downtown Deco. He might be able to supply you with walls. His brick work is the best.

I got a start on the doors. Decided to put in a few windows.

Great looking shop doors Ken! what did you use for the actual sheet material? It looks like plywood [?] or is it balsa or basswood sheet [?].,

Also, don't know if i mentioned it, I checked Ken H's site and found the tutorial for the windows. Thanks for the tip. :up: Should be interesting in O scale with my weak eyesight [:-magnify]. Time to get a visor

Steve, what you see is just the outer frames. I have them tacked to a piece of cardstock while I lay them out.

Yes Tim, I think I'm going with three lites per door. And yes, this large scale stuff is a hoot[:-bouncy]

BTW Ken, the Lintel looks terrific, a detail seldom seen. I think the 3 lite windows will give it a nice vertical look and creat height in the doors. Just be careful when you are backing in that big rig. beep beep beep.

Ken, I really like what you've got going here. I've been working in HO so long, though, that I can't really get a grip on how big a structure is in 1/2". I used to build model cars (a long, long time ago) in 1/24 and 1/25, but I really can't visualize a building in that scale. When you get it all done, how about a pulled-back distance shot of the whole thing... and with something in the photo to help "set" the scale?

Well MikeC, my old gal pal Helen Shortness just happened to pay a visit. She said she was in the neighborhood...



She said the other HO people miss me.

I think the reason I enjoy HO scale so much is the amount of detail you can do in a small space. This large stuff is a real pleasure to work with, but the space it takes up is considerable. Another thing is the cost of details...quite the eye opener.

I'll post another pic when the building is done.
