Hey folks, I just picked up a copy of MR's Model Railroad Planning 2007, and in the plastic wrap was a supplement titled "Workshop tips - Design Concepts for your Next Layout". Inside are several "chapters" and one is titled "Layout Locations", in which several ideas are put forth by using photos of real layouts. Included is a shelf layout, a layout in a closet, and Mike's layout, "Empire in a Bedroom". Also mentioned is the fact that Mike was the cover story for the 2004 Great Model Railroads, and als that he was a featured article, "Surround Staging" in the 2001 MRP.
That's a nice overall scene, Mike! I don't recall seeing that view (from the doorway) before. Your layout looks even more impressive with this view. BTW, on the extreme left side of that photo there is a white structure - have you shown us that before? I'd like to see it "up close" if you could.
Anyway, way to go, Mike! It's great to see your layout featured again. You've really shown what can be done in a "small" space!
