Caz Coal -and- Wood

    Philip thanks, slow and steady. So now the Shack is actually assembled:

    The Shack is put together following Brett's instructions. To my delight the thing came out nice and square. Added the corner trim
    with nail holes and all. Also installed a view block so when you look inside it's dark since no interior details will be added. The white
    paper underneath is the size of the porch and foundation.

    Here is the end view which also has the corner trim installed. I'll probably bring the Shack and porch out about a half inch, or so,
    from where it is now so the detail pieces can be added without crowding. The doors have also been glued in place with the one side
    opened just a tad; hopefully no critters walk in.

    Next is moving on to the roof. I wasn't too keen on doing another raftered roof but after reading the instructions I don't think that it
    will be too difficult. The wood for the rafters and tails, along with the facia boards, have been colored and weathered to match the
    siding already. The roof has been bent and fitted with some minor sanding which will be glued on next.

    That's where I'm at for the moment with lots more to follow.

        Looks great Larry. It is a good way to learn new things. I learned a lot building FSM kits when I was in HO.

          Nice job glueing the walls together squarely.
          You'll do fine with the roof.

                    Jerry thank you. Used a new ,to me, technique for gluing the walls together.....will
                    be doing it that way from now on. This "old dog" actually learned some new tricks.

                          Micheal happy to elaborate. Taped a metal square to the glass surface that I work on, best three bucks I ever spent,
                          to hold it in place. Started with the left end and front. Ran glue down the edge of the end wall with my finger and
                          placed it upright against the corner of the square. Then held the front against the other leg of the square and slid it into place.
                          Slid a drafting triangle against the inside corner until the glue set up. Repeated the process with the right end and the back walls.
                          Once everything was dry then I glued the two section together against the square. The three corners were square so the fourth one had to be.
                          Never did it this way before and it worked great; hope I explained it well enough to make sense. This technique was in Brett's instructions.
