Larry, the building looks convincing and has character all its own. I can't remember, is it lit inside? A future enhancement for this type of building might be a simple awning on the front, with rod supports on top. Persist! ~mikeComment

Philip thanks. When I get most of the layout finished, about another year probably, the plan is to go back
and add, adjust, and fix anything that I don't like; and of course run a few trains. The kit is the "Woodcutter's
Shack" and that's what I'm using as a basis for the wood part of the business. Brett has it setup as a diorama
but I'm going to incorporate it into the layout so some detail parts will either be changed or not used there.
The instruction "booklet" is amazing and very detailed explaining exactly how to get the different effects.
That being said hopefully I can do it justice by taking my time.

the layout; that should keep me busy for quite a long time.

Mike thank you. There are plans to "light it up" in the future so it's not glued down yet. I kinda like the awning idea;

Jerry thanks. Yes those are the type of things that I'll go back and do. Also I still have my boxcars, flatcars, etc.
to rebuild along with a 25 ton engine/critter to put together.

Just so you don't think I'm goofing off here is a quick update on the start of the next section:
Painted a narrow strip of light brown paint across the back of the next section. When dry I planted a hedge row against the
backdrop. I originally was going with an elevated area with a retaining wall but it took up too much space. So here's what
will be in front of that reimagined area:
I cut enough dowels for 17 pine trees ranging from 26 to 30 scale feet. Started with a basic brown and will go over that with
a grey wash then dry brush a little flat white for highlights. Then it's on to cutting lots and lots of furnace filter squares for
the tree itself. Once done there will be a row, not straight, of pine trees along the back with the buildings in front of that.
It seemed fitting to have lots of trees behind the Wood Cutters Shack.

That hedge row, with the pines will look great with that background scene. Once the structures are set in place, it will be a nice scene overall. Nice progress Larry.
