Larry, For lighting you could think about fiber optics. Go to dwarvin.com. I saw his products at a train show last year and was really impressed. I plan to order soon.
Larry, I know when you are ready for lighting, there are many how-to threads here on RR-L. Also very many YouTube videos available. Here is one of many. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XKZJTlRFg0

Now that the store roof is coming along there is enough done for an update:
The rafter on the false front was made then squared up with additional scale lumber to provide a place for the sign. The vertical
wood was grained then finished to match the porch with maple stain then a coat of A&I after, which picked up the grain on the
wood nicely. The sign was made on the computer then cut out and colored with a pencil about the same color as the iron front.
The sign was glued on with Modge Podge and a coat of the same applied over that.
Here is the roof with the boards attached which are scale 3x12's glued in place; and yes you can see the rafter tails on the sides
of the Store.
Making the roof took lots of time and was quite fiddly at times. Patience, and a few cuss words, and the roof prevailed. While
not 100% perfect, I'm very pleased with the way it turned out for my first time making this style roof with rafters. Oh yes....did
I mention the roof is removable to install lighting.
Now the roofing material will be applied when I figure out what I want to use. A few trim boards need to be added along with
installing the stove pipe outside then it's pretty well finished except for some lighting which will be done at a later time.
Rick thanks. I'm thinking of going with a dark grey tiled roof for a different look. But if I don't
like the look then I'll go with a textured rolled roofing instead; so we'll see.
Ron thank you. I figured that being removable I could light it up later and be able to change the
bulbs if need be.
Jerry thank you for the nice compliments. The sign idea I "borrowed" from one of Louis's tutorials.

Philip I've not considered cedar shakes before.....interesting. I would probably have to get some
of those thin cedar wraps that you use on the grill. We'll see.
Karl thanks. I wanted to try and do something different for this one. The background is from
Fawler which came in 2 pieces and was a good price. Besides I'm the furthest thing from any
kind of artist so a painted one was out of the realm of possibility.

Nice progress Larry. Larry, you didn't join in on my cedar shingle saw filer shack build, if you want to see how I did the grill cedars checkout this thread; https://railroad-line.com/node/40037/page6

Louis thank you. I'll have to check out that build, thanks for the link. I've decided
to go with the tile roof but the cedar shakes sounds promising for the next building.

The store is the cat's meow! The roof looks great! I want to see tar paper, in keeping with the overall layout. But I want to see what a tile roof will look like.
