    Questions on Walthers Cornerstone Brick Sheets


    I'm researching the accuracy of HO scale Brick Sheets, & can't get a sample of Walthers Cornerstone version, because my LHS is out of stock. Walthers Model Number 933-3522 or 3523. I already have samples of Monster Model works, Rail Scale Models, JTT scenery, Vollmer and Faller at my disposal.

    Any members have any that they could measure for me?

    I'm looking for the actual dimensions down to thousands of an inch here, including:

    1. Individual bricks height & length

    2. Number of courses vertically in one actual inch

    3. Number of bricks horizontally in one actual inch

    4. Number of vertical courses per scale foot.

    I have the Cornerstone 933-3523.

    1. Individual bricks height & length - I measure in mm 1.37 in height and 2.52 in length.

    2. Number of courses vertically in one actual inch - I count 10 courses vertically.

    3. Number of bricks horizontally in one actual inch - I count 29 bricks.

    4. Number of vertical courses per scale foot. - I count 4 courses in an HO scale foot.

    I hope this information helps you. It is like counting and measuring legs on an ant. It's the best I can do for you.

      Nice job documenting this, Louis!

      Those sheets are pretty thick, as I recall. At least .040, maybe thicker. That makes them hard to work with in my experience.

        I have some of those on hand; I plan to use them with other Walthers components with similar brick sizes. Is there a current "hot setup" for styrene brick in HO? I know people liked the dimensions of a couple of wood products, but I've seen enough cupping/shrinking problems to prefer styrene.

          Any chance you may have flipped the counts on:

          2. Number of courses vertically in one actual inch - I count 10 courses vertically.

          3. Number of bricks horizontally in one actual inch - I count 29 bricks.

          That would be much closer to the other values on other manufacturers.

          Of course these numbers don't directly reveal the sizes of the mortar in between each brick/course!

          I am building a spread sheet comparing these values to other sheets I have..

          If there is interest I'll post something here that is viewable by all...

              Here is a visual of the bricks within a one inch square. Comes out being approx. 28 bricks by 10 bricks. Blowing it up like this made it easier to count bricks.

                    Carl, I'll chime in with one company not on your list. English company Slaters make very nice brick and stone sheets in various patterns, in N, OO, and O scale.

                    The sheets I have are 30cm long x 19cm high, and are about 0.5mm thick.

                    Here's their OO or 4mm scale, so slightly larger than HO. Ref Code 0401.

                    I work in metric, but do have an Imperial ruler, so hope this helps.

                    width - about 8.3 bricks per inch



                    Height - 25 bricks per inch
