Karl, I suspect they're cleaning up the cast-in holes for rivets to connect sections of iron pipe. The photo was from a iron pipe works in SW Pennsylvania. (P&MR went into the Montour RR.)

Awful lot of Photoshop work to justify a foobie....
What are they building in the foreground?

A lot of people use the term "foobee" for a car with no actual prototype.
In my case, I produced a foobee because I really liked the Westerfield inside stake drop floor gondolas, and I also liked Art Griffin's Pittsburgh and Moon Run decal set (those belong to an all steel car.)
Today I saw the Pittsburgh & Moon Run lettering on an inside stake wood gon!!!
Turns out all I needed to do was put the numbers on the other end and rearrange them a bit.
So what should we call a "foobee" that turns out to actually be prototypical?
