Nice one. Looks like thin & crispy on one side and double thick. chewy crust on the other

Thanks for the feedback. There’s one thing that was a little surprising but turned out to be positive. The solvent in one of the cans of white paint I used to mask the green edge of the foamboard, and a few places elsewhere, reacted and dissolved the surface of the foam. You can see the effect in this detail shot of the pizza’s edge. It created an attractive, if initially undesirable “orange peel” texture that hides a number of “sins.” Lesson learned, I tested subsequent paints on scraps before barreling-in and none had the same effect. I did not note the brand/type of paint that I used as I was using up a large selection of mostly empty paints from prior projects, but I’d replicate the effect again albeit in a more purposeful and controlled manner.

                  Mark,

Nice little layout. I like that it was a couples project.

As long as you use a water based paint (spray or brush-on) you shouldn't have a problem. Any oil based paints will attack the foam.

It was fun to work with my wife. It was a big and welcome surprise that she wanted to be in on the project. What's surprised me since is that she's started talking about both how we might improve this with some more details and what we might do next year.
