Just a small update:
Finished up a welding cart which was very fiddly to put together. There we're a few choice sentiments echoing through the room. The last item that I'm going to attempt to scratch build is a pedestal grinder to add to the overhead line. Sadly I guess J.D.'s will be done after that.

Looks great Larry. You've outdone yourself with this build, and I've really enjoyed the journey.
Sad that it's coming to an end, but of course that just means another great build coming up....doesn't it !

Well JD's Machine Shop is finished, unless I find something to squeeze in down the road:
Here is the pedestal grinder which was scratch built. I used a piece of 1/4 inch K&S aluminum stock for the upright and cross member. The base is foam core and I cut down two pillow blocks to hold the shaft. Had two metal discs which were glued to the ends of the shaft for the emery wheels. The whole thing was sprayed grey and weather. The drive belt I made slightly wider than the others just for some variety.
Here's the grinder looking through the rail door; nothing fancy just a basic design.
These are all of the machines in the main shop.
This is a view of the entire building which turned out to have a footprint of about 12 inches long and 6 inches deep.

Kyle thank you. We could squeeze in a cot next to the furnace; that way you'd be nice and toasty.
Rick thank you. Actually I've been toying with the idea of a 74 x 16 inch module layout. Nothing big with a simple track plan to showcase JD's and other future builds; maybe run a few trains. We'll see.
