Although already working on a Challenge project, I have decided to all a little variety in my Challenge work by doing a project under criterion 8: “ Tackle any project on your layout: benchwork, trackwork, scenery, electrical, etc.” in the past couple of years I’ve modified and added a lot of track on my layout. Sections still need more drops added and track ballasted, so my goo ok al is to complete these tasks. Here are sections that need work.

The first is open staging at one end of my layout. I’m going to add a third track, I’ll need to widen the shelf first.

Doing this kind of work is sort of a chore, although very satisfying when completed. An ideal challenge.

Glen, nice colour combo. I especially like that yellow.

Mike, Nice to see some progress. Can never have enough staging. Especially to display all your wonderful boxcars.

all the walls are now together.

On the other half of my building, the bottom floor is split over two levels.

So the floor boards are only a bit over half the width of the structure.

Have built a small balsa wall across the split level, and will do a few steps down inside.

Another couple of basic doors added. Balsa strips.

Glen nice start to your build and I like your color choices. Interior as well as exterior; nice challenge.

Michael that should make a nice edition to your layout and give you all sorts of room for your fleet of rolling stock.

Rob your build is progressing nicely; keep at it.

Thanks Larry. I've been progressing quite well but may slow down a bit now, as I am now back at work.

                See how I go.

Glen, Mike and Rob, your update posts are motivational.

Yesterday I actually made enough progress to warrant a photo, so I will post an update later today.

I've been fiddling with the windows and doors. I've replaced the cardstock items included with the kit for wooden items.

Next will be some interior bracing then I have to decide on the exterior finish.

                        Mike,

Nice rail work. I really like your backdrop, ridge lines and horizon lines that fade out. Nice use of color!

                        Glen,

                        I like the interior wainscotting.

                        Rob,

Cool boat house! Like the seaside finish.

                        Bruce.

That barn is coming along nicely.

I just picked up an RSLaser Z scale wagon kit. It looks intimidating!

Thank you Rob, Larry, Bruce and Scott.

Rob, you’re right about staging. What I have in pretty minimal.

Larry, I do need more room for cars; I’ve put away about half of my cars for lack of space.

Bruce, I guess motivation paid off; wonderful progress on your barn.

Scott, I planned my background to be as simple to make as possible while being within my capabilities.

                          Mike

Thanks Bruce. I was wondering where you were.

Your structure's looking good. I particularly like the large barn doors.

Thanks Scott. However the walls will actually be painted white. and a fair bit of weathering.

I'm liking all your work. Hope you can post some pics on this thread as well.

3 projects at once will sure keep you busy.

                                I'm still posting here.

I've made up the rooftop extension. Again just basswood siding mounted on matt board.

                                This was just 3 sides.

Then attached to the front wall, and painted

I've also added a small set of shelves inside the large front door

                                Regards Rob
