Maine version of Atchafalaya Boathouse

As part of this years Group Challenge, I'm going to scratchbuild a version of the Atchafalaya boathouse, built by Geoff Nott, that resides on the well known Muskrat Ramble layout.

It will be in O scale and will be the main part of diorama, I intend for the next Australian Narrow Gauge convention, postponed to 2022.

So the build isn't lost in the challenge thread, I will also document it here.

So here's some pics I took when it was first displayed in Sydney in 2009.

But mine will have a slightly more New England feel. Window shutters, doors on the openings, a rooftop water tank, lots of signage and higher out of the water.

Many folks have threatened to build this structure over the years, but I've still never seen it done.

Frank, thanks for the kind offer. I still have the dimensions you gave me nearly 7 years ago, when you where going to build this for the Wreckers Reef. Don't believe you ever got past the manilla mock-up stage ?

And I will also be using windows, doors, etc to try and scale it, so should be OK, but will let you know if I need more dimensions.

So very true, I ran out of room for more structures. Every time I go past the Muskrat I look at that building and admire it. Geoff was truly a master builder.

Frank. Thanks for confirming it never got built. I often reference the Wreckers Reef for ideas, and always kept wondering what happened to your HO version of this building.
