  • Here's another pic from the pier with plenty of nice detail.

So this is how it's turned out.

Still need to add barnacles, and bolt heads, later on.

      • Rob,

Your pier looks terrific. Very realistic.

It’s nice to be able to combine recreation with a little research, and then top it off with a tasty meal.

          • Thanks Bob, Mike, and Dave. Like the tide, it's coming along slowly.

I do like those old piers. So much character.

            • Very slow progress this week. Sometimes that just happens.

I've made up the decking for the other small lower wharf area.

Used 5mm balsa sheet as a sub base for most of it as it won't be visible underneath, but the front portion has joists. Boards are stir sticks, except the bit that will be inside the structure, which is just 1mm balsa sheet, with board lines carved in.

Now to add all the pilings, etc
              Regards Rob

              • Cut & drilled the holes, and cut the piles to length.

Piles inserted and glued in place

Now the tedious task of adding all the extra joists and cross bracing.

                Regards Rob

                      • Thanks Bob, Carl & Frank.

We were rained out yesterday, so got a fair bit of modelling done. All the bracing is on, and all painted and weathered.

Still to fix up the waterline and add barnacles etc.

Sure is a lot of work doing wharfs.

                        • Get ready to take a bow on this dock build! (no, not a ships bow into the dock)

                          Nice work!

                            • Thanks Dave & Fred.

here's a boring update, to show I'm still going.

I had forgot to add nail holes. So have so now.

And have started on the right side wharf section. A lot of work doing it board by board.

                              Regards Rob
