  • Thanks for your comment Bill.

It's hard to see in that photo of the underside but the legs go straight down and I wanted
my bird to have his landing gear retracted for flight. I nipped off those legs and made new
legs and feet from fine lead wire and then built up the feathered portion with sculptor's epoxy putty.

Sorry, I do not have a photo to show you. I had one somewhere but I do not know where now.

I hope you can put up with my poor photography. This is my shot at painting the upper side of an Eastern Red-Tail Hawk
which is common where I live. Next I move on to painting the underside. Keep in mind that the photo is much bigger than the
model bird which only has a 2 inch wingspan.

I will put him aside for now. I have a picture in my mind of him suspended by a wire in his wingtip
to the truck of a tree he is flying past but that will have to wait.

I love birds, and you did an excellent job painting up a retail hawk!
Nice mod and great work painting the feather patterns!

We just have a Raptor retail store nearby, lot's of talonted salespeople hawking their wares.
You have to visit at the right time though, sometimes their prices soar.

                • Bob, looks like your modeling is now soaring to new heights! Wonderful work painting your redtail hawk!

                  • For anyone who cares, I found that I can add photos to the old forum pages so I have started

replacing all the missing photos in Vol 1 and Vol 2 of my build strings. This is a SLOW process so I

will be busy at that for quite some time.

Bob, Thank you for undertaking this endeavor. A monumental task to be sure, but so many visual lessons preserved.

WOW, what a job. I have put very many hours into this project and I can be happy to tell you that Vol. 1 is now compete with photos.
I wish I had kept track of time but I didn't. There will still be a few photos missing photos but nothing that will make a real difference.

                            Now on to vol.2!!
