  • Bob,
The window and the brick look great together. Did you paint the styrene bricks? They look real!

    • Scott, Greg, Ray, and Dave, thanks for your posts.

Dave - Those brick sheets were already "painted" (printed) and even have a self stick surface on the back. No, I do not
remember where I got them, been in my stash of materials for years and finally got to use them.

        • Bob,

Nice window and perfectly cut between the rows of bricks. I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Here are the decals added to the brick side so far, old and new signs, some overlapping older ones.
I have to be a bit careful here because most of the lower half of the wall will be covered by an adjacent building.

I also added a couple of signs at the top, more later maybe.

The walls are looking really good. Love those signs.

                    • Those old signs add a lot to the walls. The overlapped ones look great.

                      • Ray, Philip, Dave, Mike, and Bill, thanks for your postings, much appreciated.

Now the next thing I need is a front for that building. At this stage I am in the same place as you are,
I have no idea of what that storefront will look like. All I know is that it will be like something from the
late 1800's to the early 1900's and it must fit this structure. It has no prototype.

The first thing I do is cut a piece from a sheet of styrene that is as wide as the building and a bit taller. I can cut some of the top off if I do not need it.

Then I mark out such things as the locations of the interior floors and the locations of doors and windows.
At this point those are just guesses, all may change, but it gives me something to think about, what details I may
want to add, and hopefully I won't have a floor bisecting my windows.

I will be visiting my styrene scrap box for most of the detailing materials and I will build up the storefront off
the model because it is easier to work on that way.

                          • Wondering what the signs were printed on, or if they are decals. As the white color is still noticeable, but the brick work shows through as if painted on by the town sign crew.

                            • Bob, the signs really add some more character to this building, and the storefront looks interesting already.
I'm surprised Charlie hasn't shown up yet, to inspect your progress.

You have an eye for the architecture of the period this current model represents. You're already off to a good start on the front; I anticipate another masterpiece.
