  • Hey, my grandson Gage, and I went outside to look at the moon and see if it was full. While out there, we turned around and got dose of what each visitor will see during the open house. Man, we got the coolest 'garage' in the whole neighborhood. I took some shots (with my crappy phone camera) and thought I'd share them with ya'll, since most of ya'll ain't coming to the open house. Enjoy.........................
Oh yeah, thanx for stoppin' by.

Kyle, the layout is looking terrific. Those mountains to the floor really add to the rugged look of scenes.

  • Kyle you should be very proud of your layout. It looks amazing and should be a big hit on the tour.

We (Mark and I) also hung some black 'ground netting' for curtains to hide all the yard tools and crap on the storage shelves.......think I'll leave 'em up.............Tomorrow I finish the backdrop at the new roundhouse addition, sweep up and hope for the best..................thanx for stoppin' in, have a great day.........pictures to follow................

              • Thanx Mike; well it's time for another day. Went to bed at 2:30 AM this morning, and woke up at 6:30 AM. Oh well I guess I'll see what the Good Lord has in store for me today. Let me see, a wonderful grandson who's doing all he can and believes in he and I staying put. He's working at Mc Donalds cleaning the lobby and taking out the trash, and working so hard to show me how hard he's trying so we can stay in the only home he's ever really known. I love him so. I'm so proud of him. If anyone deserved better he does. Patrice is gone, I hear she's found someone, I pray she's happy. I live in her house, and I'm trying to finish getting Gage as ready as I can for what the world will throw at, or offer him; and he's asleep right now just like when he was little, believing somehow it'll all work out ok. All that and I still have congestive heart failure. So I guess I'll just pick up this old heart that's been broken one too many times, is missing so many pieces, and put it back in the box I used to keep it in, and get on with whatever The Good Lord has for me to do. After all, JOB had it way worse than me. And besides; I have an Open House layout tour today. Ya'll have a great day. Hey, we're still on this side of the dirt, drawing a breath or two, and it ain't over "till the lady of ABUNDANT GIRTH waxes melodic" BYE.

                    • Rick, Larry C., and Scott, thanx so much for the comments this morning, and afternoon. They were inspirational and strengthening. I made it through the day pretty easy. No one came by, but I didn't really expect anyone on the first day of the show. The guy who called on Monday is scheduled to stop by tomorrow (Friday) @ 1:00 pm. He said he's coming from AZ. I'm very much looking forward his thoughts on the overall desert, rugged and Southwest 'feel' I tried to capture. Oh well, I did get some pretty clear shots of the garage / trainroom for a change. Hope ya'll like 'em........see ya on the flip side...........................

                        • Hey guys; I had a really wonderful afternoon. The open house was terrific. Mike S. from Tucson AZ. came by and spent almost an hour. We had some great conversation about all kinds of stuff, especially RR topics. He loved the RR, and said that the rock work was almost exactly what he's seen in northern AZ. He commented about the almost exact match of the colors to what he's seen. He also mentioned the backdrop as being particularly well done. (made me feel so good) There's something about somebody you don't know liking your creation that makes the heart get those 'good vibes'. It's kinda like when ya'll offer comments about liking something you've seen me do. Anyways, that was the first visitor I've ever had from outta state. Next up; earlier in the day, I gotta call on my cell. I answered, and the voice on the other end said, " Hi, this Barry Bogs, and I'd like to come and see your RR, there's 4 of us and we'd like to get directions if needed. I asked which way they were coming from, and they said Mc Kinney. (that's 20 or so miles NE of Arlington) I said that due to some construction on I-30 (which connects Dallas and Ft. Worth) that they should go....(and I gave him directions) all the while my mind was saying " KYLE, he said his name is BARRY BOGS !!!!!" I first saw him and his G scale RR in MR. It was an old issue from late 90's or early 2000's. Since then I've seen and read about his fine work in all sorts of publications, and videos. This guys sorta famous................Then I said to myself, "self...that's just some guy with the same name, or you must have misheard him. So I literally forgot all about it except that some people were coming from Mc Kinney, and wanted directions to the layout. So later on (an hour or so), I was just starting to wonder if they had had some delay or something, when some people started walking up to the garage. By the time I got up and went over to greet them, this guy extended his hand to shake, and said " Hi, I'm Barry Bogs, and this is my son .....and this is .....and this is".....and the whole time my mind is going 'HE'S BARRY BOGS' ....!!!!!! I only remember saying "it's a pleasure to meet you I love your RR; and open house tours on line. I also enjoyed your magazine articles in the Gazette, and MR. Then I shut up and watched as they toured the layout, not really fathoming the enormity of their comments. Not till later on after they had gone did it really register. Back in 2011, a year before I started to model in On30, was when I read the piece about his home layout, and how marvelous it is and that he's an MMR, and how much he's contributed to the hobby. I remember thinking to myself, "I wish I could build something like what he's doing, oh well maybe someday......." and today he looks at me and says "Kyle, I REALLY like your track plan, it's VERY well thought out". Then the others chimed in "oh yeah, it sure is..." Later on after they left I told my buddies Mark and Henry, about Barry Bogs being really famous in the model RR-ing world. They said "really???...wow!!!, you should've heard 'em all going nuts over on the other side of the RR". "They loved the road outta GRIZZLY that blends seamlessly into the backdrop, and they said your design was fabulous, and really liked everything you'd done" !!!!!!!!!!! Am I sounding like some little school kid????????????? You know what the kicker is?...I didn't shoot one single picture with them; but one of them took a shot of me with Barry and the rest of the group. Oh well, I still had such a wonderful day. Thanx for letting me ramble on about such nonsense...."Barry Bogs,........ hmmmm"................................
Oh yeah, I also found my 2-6-0 Cab Forward that I built outta scrap parts............pics below.................................see ya'll tomorrow.
