Kyle, the platform looks good. Doug Foscale taught a clinic in 2007 on doing the same thing, and I was stunned at how simple and good looking it was. Persist! ~mike
Rick, Mike, and Scott, Thanx so much for the input. It's nice to have ideas, and good ideas to boot floating around from all ya'll !! Here's the shots from todays'(Friday) work. We finished up all the remaining plaster work, and even did the tunnel entrance (that I was unsure of what was going to go there) and all it has to do is dry and then the color will go on. After that, all that's left will be the trackwork and wiring; and the plaster platform at Dilapidated. Hope ya'll will hang in there.........
Thanx Scott, Thanx Phillip, I started the repair / modifications of the 2 bridges on the new section this evening (Saturday) long about 7PM. With a couple of breaks for errands (about 1 hr.) I finished up most of the work by 11:30PM, cleaned up a bit, fed NIGEL and ROLO and decided to post some shots before I watch a couple of episodes of LAW & ORDER and then turn in for the night. The small bridge needed bridge track/guard rails, and needed to be widened 3/8" to handle the BEAST. The combination warren truss / steel plate girder bridge needed some minor repairs, and some (as it turned out) major strengthening and cleaning. Both are almost finished; the combination is going to get a new color, red oxide I think on the warren truss section; and silver on the steel plate girder end if I don't decide to swap the colors mentioned. Or I might do the whole thing in one or the other color; either way it will get some minor weathering (as it has just been refurbished) and should look a whole lot better than it has in black. The smaller one I'm not sure of; any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanx again for follern' along ..................................

all done with repairs/ strengthening , up next paint............
Thanx Rick; actually those are individual blocks cut out of styrofoam and glued in place with liquid nails; then covered in a coat of plaster. So, I guess you could say I cheated a little bit.
Thanx Rick, I went ahead and added some top plates, end beams, and side stringers to finish out the refurbish of the little bridge. I don't know about what color other than black for this one though............................

Here's what was done to the rest of the big bridge.
Thanx Scott, thanx Mike, thanx Larry C, and thanx Karl.........I built the first of 2 wooden tunnel portals today. Here's a couple of shots, hope ya like 'em. I also finished getting the last of the plaster colored. Now I need to paint the stone portal, and build the second wooden portal. Then it'll be time to start laying track. YEAH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
