  • Kyle, sorry to read about your wife's medical issue.
    Hope she's feeling much better.

You're making continued good progress on the layout.

    • Kyle very glad to hear the Mrs. is going to be ok. My Dad had 2 stints put in years ago and they
solved his problems. Great progress on the layout. I think we should call you "The foam wizard".
      Have fun.

                  • Rick, Frisco Mike, and Larry C., Ya'll are the best...... Thanx for all the concerns, prayers, and comments regarding my wifes' condition. She's back to her loveable, cantankerous, and wonderful self.. I'm truly blessed.............but that's enough of the serious stuff...... on to the RR (She said I needed to get back to work on the thing so she could get her sh*t back in order)....So here goes. Tomorrow, (Sunday) after breakfast w/Mark, we'll come back here and finish up all the rest of the plastering. There's only 3 spots left to do, and once they are done Mark and his wife are going out of town for a week. That's when the paint and washes will happen to hopefully bring it to life. Just for reference, I'm posting some shots of everything that will get a new coat of color. Some of the existing color will be replaced so everything will look consistent. (hopefully) That's all for now......

                    • Hello again; it's 2:15 AM Sunday July 24th. I just finished up re-doing the track work at Dilapidated. It was ridiculously fouled up because I was trying to keep the old design so as to have some sort of a connection with the old layout, but realized that a quick re-do (3 hours) would render a more efficient routing; and add some valuable real estate. (Stop thinking like a model railroader, and start thinking like a real 'Robber Baron"). Every square inch is valuable. That doesn't mean the track has to be 'everywhere' ie. "SPAGHETTI-BOWL"; but leave a few openings for a couple of more small buildings etc..........Good Nite !!!!

                      • Kyle,

                        That looks good.

Sometimes you gotta leave the old behind and make something new.

                          • Thanx Michael, thanx Rick, You're so right Michael. Today (Sunday) Mark and I finished up the plastering except the new tunnel. I'm going to do it in 2 phases, and the top portion will be done "off site". I went 1 step further with the track re-do......I moved the depot from the end near the yard tracks to the other end.....it kinda looks a little "Squawbottom-ish" but I think Mr. Allen wouldn't mind. I just hope the feel of a very remote place is being captured. I'll probably start on the 'colorizing' of all the rockwork tomorrow,(Monday) with the "2 Horns" mountain and tunnel. They are already dry and ready for a base coat. So we'll see how it all comes together. Anyways thanx again for the kind words for my wife Patrice, and for stopping by and keeping tabs on me....................Who knows, I might do something crazy...... (LIKE BUILD A NEW LAYOUT ON TOP OF A PERFECTLY GOOD ONE) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh well there was the whole radius and clearance expansion...............see ya.....

You have indeed captured the look of a remote place.
