    Michael, Bruce, Larry C., Jerry, and Phillip, Thanx an awful lot for following along and considering this stuff worthy of not just a comment or 2, but mostly your time. We are all tied to a clock in one way or another, especially those that are still working at building something for the future; and any spare moments spent nosing around some old retired farts' thoughts, ideas and pictures of his miniature railroad, and whatever else might fall out of said old farts' addled brain, is extremely kind and most appreciated.

      The "foamage" is looking great, as well as the additional trees! I like how you are bringing those cliffs to the foreground.
      That is a swell looking map. Someone mentioned framing it, I agree!

        Thanx Scott! Well fellas, I got my other cataract removed yesterday, and I sure do notice quite the difference in EVERYTHING. I've been fartin' around with 2 bad eyes for over a year; and so I got the first one done 3 weeks ago and man I didn't realize the colors in the railroad were so vivid. So that's enough of that.........Anyways, I've decided to do what has been suggested and frame the map. And because of that I went back and drew a more 'accurate' version (of something that's totally made up????) to not only hang in the Railroad Area, but also frame some smaller ones to put around the layout in key spots. You know, "YOU ARE HERE" with little red location dots.....?????........?????
        YES, NO, MAYBE, ?????????????????????????

            Scott, Larry C., and all you guys that always have so many wonderful comments and suggestions, THANX SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! Now, down to biz! Mark and I started work on the front (?) face of the arch today. As always Mark handles the mixing and the supplying of the paper towels, and I do the sloppy gooey part. Anyways, we made some pretty good progress until my 681/2 year old knees just couldn't go up and down the little step stool ladder (darn that football). But at least we got the first coat of plaster on, stepped back looked up ( the top of the arch is 6 feet in the air) and said that looks pretty damn good. But as always, I'll let ya'll be the judge..............................

                Seems to me you got a lot done. Even though the arch is very dramatic, it has a real-ness about it like a good expressionistic painting.

                        Here's what we accomplished today in a little over an hour. We started on the back side and once again went till my back and knees said "no more up 'n down the step ladder....a**hole!!!!!!!"

                        Next up it'll be more work on finishing up the river scene; gluing the styro-rocks in place, adding a coat of plaster to the cliffs, then a coat or 2 of color for the time being till I decide the exact hue, and temporarily plant some trees to judge location and size and to make sure there's NO SHADOWS cast on the backdrop.
                        Till then ya'll have a great Memorial day, and keep those cards 'n letters comin'.
