Not only a brilliant explanation of how to weather wood for structures but also very useful for me on how the pieces of wood go together to make a wooden structure.

I would recommend going on EBay or Amazon and finding a book on building homes.
Many can be found for just a few dollars.
As far as the sizes of wood goes, scale 2 by 4s or 2 by 6s will cost quite a bit more than just using 1/8 by 1/16 for the studs.
The planks can be easily cut by buying a sheet of 1/32nd bassword and slicing your own planks with an Xacto knife.
I have posted a video on Youtube that is all about how to scratchbuild an O scale building board by board.

It -really pisses me off- that websites use that Google recaptcha crap, which makes use of their website subject to Google tracking. Plus, of course, you're just training Google's AI. I had a long fight with my retirement company (TIAA) about this, and I gave serious thought to moving my retirement accounts to a different provider. That got at least my local representative's attention.

The rosewood was purchased at Lee Valley Tools. They no longer carry it. Came in a tube of about 300 pieces 18" L X 1/4" wide X 1/32" for $20. Looks just like red cedar when you make a building out of it. Any wood that size will work for O scale clap boards. The studs are all basswood as are the windows and trim.

Ron. That looks like an epic piece of modelling. Very neat work. I haven't heard of Rosewood for modelling with. I will study it with interest.

I started a thread on building a wooden structure. I never finished it, but the thread may be some help to you. I used 1/4 x 1/32 rosewood strips for mine.
