  • I continue enjoying your build Rob.

Frank P. is the "man" here, since he actually worked on the water for years...I'm still a student

    • Frank, What's the cord attached to the clapper of the ship's bell called?

      • Shuck's that's easy, a lanyard. You probably made lanyards from that colored plastic stuff in summer camp.

        • Thanks Mike, Frank Carl & Bill.

We won't mention the "ropes" again.

Those old seadogs are a bit touchy.

I went MIA for a bit, as i got caught up watching the Tour de France, as I do each year.

          • I was going to make my own life-rings, but found some in my details stash from Model Tech Studios. So painted them up.

Made a ladder fom wire, rather than thread as it is more sturdy

I've also done most of the rigging.

Made my own rigging rings from twisted wire, and used thread for the lines.

Rigging boats sure is a pain. If doing a lot of these it would be good to have a fly tying vise.

The mast spreader is made from styrene

                  • Here are some final shots.. For the water I used a piece of my leadlight glass.

For an out of scale kit that cost me less than $12, a lot of scratch-building and some imagination, I think it's comes up great.

                              • Thanks Adrian. Yep, they are a nice starting point. I was mainly after the hull, so scratch-building the rest was always my intent.

Thanks Bill, Carl, Mike, for following and all you encouragement.

Thanks Frank for all your advice, as your experience on the real boats has been an invaluable source of info. Can't say I've got it all correct, but it looks right to my eye.

Yes, I still have to give it a name, probably Lisa, after my wife.

But my printer broke a few weeks back, and I can't get to the shops to get a new one as yet, due to CV19 restrictions, still in force.
