That's great. You're saving a bunch of money. I've got a box of supertrees on the way.

Oak Leaf hydrangea is a very useful shrub, both in the yard (my wife really likes ours) and on the layout.

Also, have a weeping cherry tree I use for my logging area logs. You can find a lot of plants around your yard will work.
Looking forward to seeing your trees within your scenery. Great job!
Thank you. Some hydrangea are not tough enough, but the oakleaf definitely is.
I also bring home the occasional twig when I'm out on the rail trail to try to make trees from.
When I need to make logs I'll remember that about cherry.

Yes, I guess I am saving money. I've thought about getting supertrees as well but I think they might contrast too much with my current trees. I sort of like my simple trees. Anyway, I'm awfully cheap.

Be cautious about using plants with seeds (or anything else rodents find tasty). I only had one tree on the layout with seeds but the mice found it. Then I guess they got pissed at me for lousy hotel breakfast and gnawed the knob off a cellular windowshade, twice.James

Did I mention stingy. I'm very stingy.
As long as you’re generous in the ways that count then you’re ok.
