Mike, I was wondering if you have noted offerings from BTS. They offer civil war war era pieces that would fit your time frame. Here's a link to their catalog. 1960 era stuff begins around page 82. Best Wishes. Dave Buchholz http://www.btsrr.com/BTS-CATALOG-0621.pdf
The Southern Central (Lehigh Valley RR) part of my railroad would possibly interchange with yours south of Fair Haven NY where the SC had a coal dock. (This could be very confusing with both a Fair Haven NY and Fair Haven VT. I was in Fair Haven VT in August visiting my brother.) Our railroads actually crossed at Sterling, New York. The old tower was actually restored and still stands: https://www.hmdb.org/m.asp?m=79779
I have indeed been buying from BTS; the PRR boxcarss mainly but also the B&O boxcar.

Just tiring to catch up here with this thread where I left off. First, great looking lumber loads, and that water tower is fantastic. I agree with northern water towers having there piping enclosed from the cold weather, but agree with George that the water supply could drop below ground level when not in use. It's a thought and possibility anyway. At any rate, great progress going on here Mike.

At the North Central NMRA convention in Toledo this past weekend, I took part in a Make and Take, where we built a section house kit from JL Innovation Designs. I don't need a section house, so I will simply convert it into a house.
For most of us, 2 1/2 hours is not really enough time to get very far in building a kit like this. Here's how far I got:
I will add the extension off to the left, and various details to make it look more like a house.
