    • Tom, I'm away from home and on a very slow dialup connection. I'll try to get your new avatar installed later this evening or sometime tomorrow when I'm back on my cable connection.

          • Hi Mike,

This is semi on and off topic, but I can't seem to rectify my problem. I can see your pic in your thread, but I can't see your avatar. Actaully, I can't see any pics on this site. I've tried resetting my cookies, but that hasn't worked.

To make it even more confusing I can see Brunton's avatar, but nobody else's. I do get to see some pics that have been posted like the car rally, but not any of the pics in any of the other threads on the home page.

All icons are little red x's. I can't figure it out, so I'm leaning on you(you win, you have the most posts)to help me out, or atleast point me in the right direction.

            Any help would be appreciated.

            Thanks,
            Russ

            • Russ, there are two common causes for the problems you're experiencing. First, make sure you're using a web browser such as Internet Explorer, Safari, or Opera. A lot of the Mozilla-based browsers, such as Netscape and Firefox, conflict with the forum software and cause a lot of problems for their users - including the ability to upload/view photos and other graphics. This is a long-standing problem that we have been aware of for the last 3-4 years. Second make sure that you're logged in to the forum using this URL: www.railroad-line.com/forum There is an older URL, which still comes up in searches and is listed on various "links" pages (www.railroad-line.com/discussion) that takes you to an older version of the forum software. Current topics are still readable, but the graphics, smileys, and other features are not seen or available.

I hope one or both of these suggestions solves the problem.

              • Hi Mike,

I tried that link and no cigar. I used to be able to see everything, but I updated my browser(IE) and I have a feeling that that may be the culprit.

I may just have to go back to the original IE, if I can figure out how.

                Thanks anyways. I'll keep trying.

                • Russ, I'm not a PC/Windows user and so no expert by any means when it comes to MS stuff... but I recall reading several months ago that IE7 (?) had a lot of bugs that were causing users to have problems with various websites. I don't know if that's the version you're using, but it might be worth researching if it is.

                  • Hi Mike,

Is there a chance you can make this my avatar? May need to be resized.

                    Thanks.
Look out for #1, but don\'t step in #2!

                    • There you go, Andy. You will have reenter your signature info, however. A software glitch causes it to get erased when we have to open a profile. Sorry.

(The avatar info will be okay - only the sig is lost. Just retype it in the signature box in your profile, and you're good to go.)

                        • There you go, Tom. I apologize for having taken so long to get this done. (I was out of town and mostly away from the forum for 5 days last week.)
