      • Neat project Fred. What are the hoses made of?

        • Thanks, Scott, Mike, Dave, Rich, Ray, Bob and Carl!!

The two black hoses on the side are black wire insulation with a slice of styrene tubing and paint for the connectors. The folded-up hoses on top are shoe laces, split down the "center" vertically.

                  Thanks, Philip and George!!

While I was researching '50s era firetrucks I ran across this.

While I was working on the truck I was thinking maybe I'd take the red '57 chevy I bought last year and try to turn it into a Fire Chief's car. I was going to need the light so I went back to Walgreen's to get another tow truck, just for the light. No such luck. I was in the store again 3 or 4 weeks later to see if they had any new tow trucks. Nope. But they had this :

But what happens when his tire runs over that giant Phillps head screw though?

                    • He'll get a ticket for not maintaining his lane........ as soon as Walgreen's has a cop car.

That would be the day a cop pulls over a fire chief.

                        • Well, I've built a firetruck and purchased a Fire Chief car, so if you haven't yet guessed what my new build is, I don't know what to say.

I'm just building the 2 story part. There is 3 stations in Mebane, station # 3 was just built 4 or 5 years ago on my side of town. For the life of me I could not figure out where #2 was. Until I did a walk around. Station #1 is the 2 story built in 1950, the one story was built in 1967 and is station #2.

Anyway, following my usual MO.... foam core and construction paper bricks. This may take a while.

                            • First the fire truck, then the car, and now the fire station. Man you are on fire! Nice car and good start on the fire station.
