Excellent! work and craftsmanship..and you once stated you would take a seat to watch me build structures?.. I think you have surpassed that day...

Thanks Rich. No I haven't surpassed you yet. I still haven't built a building and posted it on the forum. This will be my first scratch-built structure on the forum. So I'll still sit and watch you build structures. It's tough to surpass any of the members on here when it comes to building structures. I have a ways to go to catch up.

Today I made a jig for cutting the sticks to length. It's a piece of aluminum with a .155" wide by .155" deep slot. A small cross milling at the closed end provides a stop for the sticks to butt against. A slot .022" thick was cut .230" from the blind end end to guide a razor saw.

The first cut blocks and the jig loaded to to cut more.

The first blocks laid up to see if this whole idea will work.

Next on the agenda is to cut a few hundred and glue to a trail wall to see how it'll all work out. So this will be the last post for a while until I get a test wall set up.

My Taig mill doesn't change over to do horizontal milling, which is a bit of a bummer. HSS saw? I thought you were going to gang cut those blocks, after the first thousand, you'll be thinking that too. They do look super though!

Bernd, you're too much with the make your own tools department.

Those blocks look good, Bernd. Have you ever thought about finding an easy way to do things?

The horizontal set up is an add on when you get the mill. The large base plate where everything sits on is what make it to be able to turn it into a horizontal mill.

Yes, HSS .020" thick slitting saw.

I haven't figured out a way to hold the loose strips to cut them to the correct length. Manual will have to do for now.

                          Thanks Philip.

Works pretty good to. I can cycle one block in about 10 sec. Sixteen of those sticks will get me 196 blocks.

In theory you’d have all 196 in a little over 32 minutes working nonstop.

Probably a break would be recommended.

                            They look real.

With that short length, and the softer material, I think your manual jig is going to be the only answer. I can see those 'shorties' launching off that saw. Not a pretty sight.[:-cyclops]
