I’ve been doing this project by the feel-n-fit method. One of the problems with scratch building is building yourself into a corner. You don’t want to go off blitzkrieg and find out you skipped a very important step and now you have to tear it apart and start over.
I ran out of .030 x .125 evergreen strip so I'm at a standstill with cab 2.
If you’re wondering about the blue interior it’s because this Sintra PVC used to be my blue backdrop for the Wrecker’s Reef layout until I installed the photo backdrop.
The pilot steps are attached along with an Accucraft coupler to the front pilot.
I’m adding details from the GP-9 to the side frames. I installed a louvered vent to the engineer’s side of the cab.
The rear pilots have a link and pin coupler because they will always be a loco pair.

Mike they are a bit more massive than the HO pair I made.
Jerry, thanks.
Gone are the usual arched roofs and on with the clearstory version. I had a pair of Bachmann coach roofs lying around and decided to funk my cabs a bit more. So on with the Toonerville Trolley look.
I cut a chunk out of the middle and spliced the ends together with .030” styrene. I also had to add a 1/8” strip to the top edge of the cab to get the roof up enough to clear the window frames. I’m going to change the engineer’s window to a sliding window next.
