  • Test fit and measuring for 4 ends (2 cars)....this also lets me add the stake pockets to the side w/o gluing the sides into them - the entire "gon" structure will be removable, I hope...

    • Looks good, Martin. I think I may open an NBW shop in northern Virginia. I'd make a fortune.

Bought a bunch last year mainly from Tichy; Jack D. delivered them to me at the MER Board meeting and was wondering why I would ever want so many,

I do wish I could get more of the Grandt Line ones though - used to buy in bulk from them; 50-100 sprues per item.

        • San Juan says they have the Grandt parts back into production, but I don't know if they offer the same kind of bulk sales deals.

Indeed; however, I have heard nothing positive about orders actually being taken and delivered, nor anything positive regarding communications.

Doubt I'd be back up to buying 50-100 sprues of anything unless I get back into kit production. That's work that I probably don't have the time for anymore.

The 2 Editor hats along with all the NMRA stuff is beginning to wear heavily.

                  • Martin,

Those cars are things of beauty. Very neat and clean work.

                      Thanks, Mike!

Should be able to grind out the rest of the underbody for both this week. Just bits of wire, a few castings, and some fiddly bits, but that's what tweezers, hemostats, and 3 hands are for...

They were your suggestion and I thought they added a lot!

This next pair of cars I'm currently working on should be done soon; got the two cars to build after them already in my sights and then I've still got more flat car frames available; also got a lot of other stuff on the bench.

For example there's a pair of old brass IMP gons to fix up, paint, add loads into, and sell at first opportunity. Then there's a duo of old brass IMP hoppers to strip, fix up, re-detail, paint and decal, and move them out at first opportunity. A pensioner's time is never slow round here!
