  • Hump Day Again

    Happy Wednesday, all.

I'll need most of the week to get back in the rhythm of the work week, then next week, on vacation.

September weather in the Mid-Atlantic isn't like it used to be. Still hot and humid. Some trees shedding leaves...the dead brown kind, not the wonderful colors of autumn.

Home mixed buttermilk pancakes today. Maple and the "other stuff" syrups, lots of butter. Tea has been brewed, just add ice.

One more night until NFL kickoff for those of you who savor that diversion. Many locals fear the Eagles will stumble out of the blocks based on an inconsistent exhibition season. We'll find out soon enough.

Anyway, all of you have a wonderful Wednesday and enjoy our hobby any way you can.

    Larry

Good morning Larry and the rest of the RR-L Crew. Yet another sunny HOT day. Thought September was supposed to be mild?

Oatmeal and tea for me, yet again, but it works so why change. I'll have coffee and some Vootman wafers later in the morning.

Just can't seem to make inroads on getting to work on new kits. Thought selling off half the company would give me that time. Oh well, just keep at it.

Everyone have a FUN and SAFE day in the hot Train Yard. Just remember, Christmas is only 4 months away. [}]

Good morning Larry, Walt, and the incoming crew. Yep, this hot weather has me in a funk. Bring on a nice heavy frost! Kill the mosquitoes, drop the leaves, halt the grass. I need to move to Arizona, and occasionally rake the rocks in that huge Zen garden. In the meantime, the coffee urn has signaled READY with Railbender Blend. Thanks Larry for making the main dish.

I'm probably going over to a friend's house later and help him with working on a module. He has an air-conditioned shop.

      Have a Super day!

Good morning Larry and the rest of the crew. We stayed the night in Portage, IN and will be home in Michigan around 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Other than the usual traffic mess under Chicago, we had smooth sailing from Omaha yesterday.

It will be good to be home for a few days before we head back to Jersey for the NER Convention and the house closing.

As for the weather, it was not uncommon for me as School Superintendent to have to listen to parents complaining about lack of air conditioning for the first 2-3 weeks of school in Sept. Then things would cool down.

        Have a great day!

Another hot day to be followed by another hot day....and I was thinking to get on the ladder and paint outside. Got 5 gallons of barn red and a quart of trim paint for the one exterior wall....but I think that's going to wait a few days now. Mowed the lawn last evening and came in dripping.....

Best to stay in the basement, in the home office and shop for a few more days.

Good morning from the lush green floodlands s called Wisconsin. What a mess, got home from the Brewer/cub game at 12:15 just as the heavy rain hit, again. Rain all night and prediction now say above 80% all day.

If we didn’t have September commitments we would head early to Texas and this year Arizona. But even Texas is having flash flooding. Climate change is not fake science.

The wIfe has headed out to the fitness center, I am still trying to shake out the cobwebs. I have paperwork to handle as we are heavily into sorting out things for when we depart this wonderful earth. I thought it would be more morbid then it is but having moved a few times and my health issues since 2014 it basically just sharpening things we started back then. On the MRH forums there is a thread of helping out the widows and what to do with the layouts. I can’t believe how many say, I’ll be dead, they can do what they want. Oh well, we are all different.

Glad the travelers are safe from the Labor Day time traveling.

Sunny and 86 in our home territory. Climate change? Sure it changes every day. My lawn is still looking a lot like straw. Some rain overnight and tomorrow and the rest of the week? Highs of 69-70. Yep the climate is changing. We’re just more a tune to it due to the geopolitical bs. It’s changed dramatically since the ice age and will continue to for eons beyond our mere nano slice of time.

We’re out on the Doll’s “route” then back home. Hit the layout for a bit as it’s been awhile. I found some 12v wall warts at Goodwill for $0.99 ea. Good for misc lights and such on the layout.

All the thrift stores have ten gallon hats and Texas go fasters(cowboy boots) for sale. This weekend is the Charlotte Frontier Days, basically a festival of alcholholic excess at the Saloon and greasy carny food and a big yard and craft sale on the courthouse lawn. Those of us that spent a career in law enforcement avoid it like the plague.

Back on the road home. Later y’all.

Good afternoon, Larry and crew. I spent the morning at the airport USO and then stopped by the train club where a couple of retired members were running trains. The club has central air, so it's a nice place to hang out on a hot day.

I have some errands to run and then some MRRing somewhere where there is air conditioning.

                Have a good day.

Add to that, the fantastic amount of grant money and kickbacks attached. 22 year Solar cycle, amazingly reoccurs every 22 years.
