  • Labor Day Monday

And everyone must either be hard at work, or sleeping in.

Here's a great Shorpy photo to start the day. Independent of the subject matter, it's a great study in weathering. http://www.shorpy.com/node/23764?size=_original#caption

I have one more section of track to lay down, and then I'll be out of track. I'll either go back and solder rail joiners, or start work on the crossover I need to finish the Big Loop.

Good morning Dave and the rest of the RR-L Crew when they mosey on in to the morning lounge.

See you didn't make up breakfast so I'll do a quick review of what's available. Hot Track's End pancakes and rich maple syrup to smother them in. Crispy bacon in stacks hot off the griddle. COLD OJ and HOT Rail Bender coffee to follow up with. Stacks of Fat Pills normally called pastries. That should hold you down until the BIG FEAST this afternoon. Here it's going to be BBQ Ribs and homemade potato salad. That'll be about all my diet can handle as I had my oatmeal and tea for breakfast.

Might be Labor Day holiday for some but for me it's a Rusty Stumps Labor Day of work filling orders and also getting new items on the website.

Everyone have a FUN and SAFE Labor Day HOLIDAY in the Train Yard.

      Thanks for opening, Dave.

We will hit the road in a few minutes and will get to Omaha tonight. We are looking forward to getting back to Michigan and opening some more boxes.

Good morning Dave, Walt, Bruce and Crew from extremely wet flooded So. Wisconsin. More rain expected for the next 3 days.

Not sure what today’s revised plans are due to the continuing drizzle/rain. It poured for hours last night. This makes the balance of the morning a train room time. I have to finish the trees that have been on the bench since Wednesday last week. Enjoy your day.

I just checked AccuWeather Radar and it looks like heavy rain and T-storms are on a line from Iowa, through So. Wisconsin and right to Karl’s place in Michigan. I think he is still in the UP of Michigan and that looks clear, hot and humid. Safe driving to all if you must be on the roads

Good morning all, Dave thanks for sharing the picture. Walt, thanks for thinking about and making breakfast and COFFEE. Still hot and humid here.

There is a young deer hanging out in our woods for the past couple of weeks, this morning it was sleeping in the flower garden. Of course by the time I grabbed the camera, it was back in the woods. :erm:

Down to the cave in a little while to work on a couple of small projects.

If you're on the roads, be safe.

          Have a Super day!

Good morning, Dave and crew. I looked at the Shorpy picture and the first thing that hit me was the number of trees. As the club's scenery chairman I understand how long it takes to cover a hillside with good looking trees. That's one of our efforts right now.

It's going to be another hot day in Tidewater Virginia, so I have some yard work to do before it's too hot.

            Have a good day.

              Good morning, everyone.

Safe travels to Omaha, Bruce and Bonnie.

I spent some time working on one of the walls to a Magnuson kit. I removed the brick between two windows and extended the opening to floor level in order to add freight doors, later. I'll post some photos of what I am up to in my railroad thread.

Yo! Otis! Recommend you stop sittin' on the dock and hie yourselves down to the pier and take the boat trip through the locks. It's fun!

                      Morning All (just barely).

Weather has returned to normal here, for Labor Day...hot. So this morning I've been over to water plants at a home I'm watching while folks are traveling. In what is left of it I'll be out in the garage laying the first few feet of track in Pine Branch Park. Later today my wife and I will be turning raspberries into jam. Here's the question - do you strain the seeds or not? We're going to strain out half so it won't be so seedy.

Give thanks to those whose work makes all our lives easier and rest today from your labors.
