  • new owners for Grandt Line

This was posted today (on Facebook)

    --

We happy to announce the acquisition and merger of Grandt Line Products, The San Juan Car Co., San Juan Decals, American Limited Models and The Leadville Shops. The new company is called The San Juan Model Co.

At the request of the Grandt family the “Grandt Line” name has been retired. The extensive catalog of former Grandt Line products is being merged with the On3, O Scale and P:48 products offered by The San Juan Car Co.

This new combined catalog of products will be available this fall directly from The San Juan Model Co. web site as well as from our current distributors.

The extensive line of high quality screen printed water slide decals produced in house by San Juan Decals will be augmented by the dozens of decal sets offered by The Leadville Shops. This growing catalog of decals will also available directly from The San Juan Model Co. web site. In addition, San Juan Decals will continue to offer custom design and screen printing of the highest quality water slide decals.

American Limited Models will continue to offer high quality imported HO scale RTR models as well as other new RTR models in other scales.

    Best Regards,

    Doug Junda and Bob Stears

I'm presuming they'll do the full catalog, not just the 1/48 stuff, but I've asked about that.

Thanks Dave for the update, however, am I the only one who has a raised eyebrow, and a question mark over his head, and a genuine concern, because the new owners are O and On30 manufacturers' and not HO Scale? I say this in no manner of ill intent. I sincerely hope that they do continue the HO Scale line, but I'd like to know if they do intend to continue that. I await to see what Dave reports.

Dave when I looked them up on the internet this is what came up

As the birthdays keep coming and our body parts start to wear out, we have decided to offer the San Juan Car Co. Inc. for sale.

SJCC has three product lines: the On3 San Juan Car kits, the San Juan Decal business, and the American Limited Line of highly detailed HO RTR freight cars and aftermarket passenger car diaphragms.

One of the main considerations is that we (John Engstrom and Bob Staat) would be available to affect a smooth transition.

Unfortunately, the previous owners did not survive to teach the nuances of the businesses to us, but we have learned over the years and are willing to pass on everything we have learned including how to mold plastic parts and "silk"screen decals (the quotes are because the screens are stainless steel).

We have a realistic price in mind; give us a call if you are interested: John (714) 504-7033 or Bob (502) 594-2446.

This looks like an old post from the previous owners. It appears that the new guys (Doug and Bob) are doing a major merge of two businesses. They'll appreciate our support I'm sure.

We're just having to wait and see then?

If they discontinue the HO line, there's not much to do.

The statement on the GrandtLine website (https://www.grandtline.com) says the new owners bought everything, and implies they'll continue the full line. But I'd still feel better to see a clear statement from the new owners on N, HO, S and G scale products.

I have communicated with Doug & Bob on their purchase. It is going to take some time for them to get ALL the products in stock. Of course my priority is the On30 line but they will add items to the stock as time allows.

This purchase really has saved my kit business.

That's great news! But I do hope they will resume the entire line, including the G scale stuff.
