  • Santa Fe Yellow?

    All,

Anyone have some suggestions for an acrylic paint to replicate the mid-fifties Santa Fe Yellow used on the "warbonnet" locomotive schemes? I've tried several Tamiya and Vallejo varieties without success-- they tend toward too vivid.

I need to be able to airbrush and brush the stuff. The old Badger Modelflex was the right color and was fabulous out of the airbrush, but was difficult to brush on for touchups. And I'm allergic to most of the solvent-based stuff, so that won't work....

    Thoughts?

    Thanks!

I believe Scale Coat Paint has the Santa Fe yellow. Check out their web site.

You could always have somebody else paint your model if it get's down being allergic to most of the solvent-based paint.

Thanks, Bernd! I'll have a look.

As to farming it out, well.... probably not. Making the models is half the fun!
