Does anyone have a source for miniature gate hinges? I'm getting ready to hang doors on the roundhouse, and would rather buy some gate hinges than trying to bend phosphor bronze wire.

Jim, the Grandtline hinges do work. But you will need to bend an L shaped piece of wire for the hinges to turn on. There is a hole in the hinge that isn't seen in the photos. I use the O scale hinges all the time.

These are the O scale hinges.
They are styrene so you can shorten the length if need be.

Ahaa! the 'L' shape is basically the gate hinge post I'm looking for. Those are good looking hinges on a fine looking model.

For my "stone" roundhouse, I got thin tubing (Ngineering) and music wire/steel rod that fit inside that tubing. Then I wrapped the paper hinges from the Rusty Stumps doors (https://www.rustystumps.com/proddetail.asp?prod=D4012) around the tubing. I bent the rod to an L shape, and drilled and glued it into the plaster walls.
Hanging the doors was an exercise in patience, but the working hinges are definitely a feature.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am attempting to do! Outstanding!!! I had cobbled another solution (I thought) but it didn't give me the clearance I need for the animation of the doors opening and closing under servo control. The pivot point was just wrong. I'll be adding a homebrew bellcrank linkage to the door's interior. Probably kinda cheesy, but it's part of my :crazy: pattern.

To affix the tubing, I used the "Goo then CA" method. That being said, the hinges are not very strong, and I don't plan on operating them much. The weak point is mounting the tubing to the door. I guess some epoxy fillet would add strength, but for HO scale (and for the 14 doors I had to do), that's some pretty detailed work!

The teflon tubing arrived in the mail earlier today. Loctite Professional Super Glue grabbed it like a dog on a bone. .015 phosphor bronze wire slips through it like your gedunk money at the hobby shop.
