Castleberry Creamery Scratch Build

I am currently working on scratch building the Castleberry Creamery from drawings in Pat Harriman's book - Early Wood Frame and Masonry Structures. I am planning on detailing a small section of the interior behind one of the freight doors which I then need to model in the open position. The drawing suggests using a Grandt Line freight door # 5267.I intend to scratch build the freight doors mimicking the design of the 5267. However I do not know how that design of the freight door is suppose to open - it doesn't appear to be on rails or hinged, at least as shown in the drawing. Anybody know how this type of door opens?

Artie, the doors seem too wide to be hinged to swing in or out, so sliding doors seem logical.

As drawn, there is no room to have them slide left or right on the outside of the building without impinging on either the people door on the left or the windows on the right. So, I would probably eliminate the people door on the left and the window closest to the right hand door, add a track on the outside of the building for the door hardware to ride in, and model them as sliding doors.

Its a 'slider', can be mounted either inside or outside depending on your needs. "L" bracket was most common. Can be easily made operable depending.

As others stated it is a slider door, examples of hardware and door pictured.

Bruce makes some good suggestions. Alternatively, you could eliminate one of the freight doors and center the remaining one between the man door and window. I like the variety of doors and windows with the man door there.

For the door hardware, you could use something from Tichy's Old Time Boxcar hardware set.

Thanks Dave.

So, I ended up taking some advice from all of you and mocked up a potential solution. I am going to board up one of the freight doors and build the other one so it slides. I found an old Athearn blue box boxcar, removed the top rail of the door slide from the car, took the door off the box car and using a razor saw cut off the very top of the door with the hardware.

Still will try and scale down the hardware (that is the yellow part in the picture) but think it might work out.
