Love the posting for the scan and cut reviews and experiments...Very informative! After reading your posting I see many applications that are guiding me into purchasing a machine for my structure building.
Hopefully in six months I can get back to modeling and out of the necessities tied to home construction and moving a lifetime of stuff.

Thanks for your posts Mike, Jeff, Carl, Dave, and Ted, making me feel at home again.
Ted, after discussions with my eye surgeon I opted for laser treatment rather than
traditional cataract removal. More expensive and not covered by insurance but more accurate and
he can fix other stuff while he's in there such as correct an astigmatism. The right eye went
real well and the left eye will be done on Monday.
BTW, if you guys have looked at Ray Dunaken's new post I see another GREAT use for the
cutting machine, easy cutting of painting stencils.

Good morning.
In our model work we often joke about the old saying "every model has a prototype somewhere".
Every morning one of the sites I check is Shorpy to look at and save many of the old
photographs. This morning was a photo showing the rag man 1942.
Kind of made me think of the model I built on the forum back in beginning of 2012
a rag man wagon end of 1941

The "Junkie!" 'Course that term was from back when the "Junkie" was the collector of rags, junk, paper, etc., and not someone with a substance abuse problem....

The "Rag Man/Junk Man use to come around regularly when I was a small boy when I stayed with my Grand Mother in Brooklyn. We also had a Fish Man", "Milk Man", "Bread Man" Olive Oil Man", and a new "Woman's Clothes Man"...Everything except a Toy Man'...
Your wagon is the exact replica of the one I remember'...Plenty of Character and then some for sure.... :up: [:P]

Ted, not yet !! I received a call the morning I was supposed to get my second eye done telling me
to stay home, the laser was out of service. Had to reschedule, the second eye gets done tomorrow.

Each eye takes three appointments, the day of surgery, a post-op check-up the next day, and
a follow-on exam a week later. With me having a couple of other appointments and all of my
wife's many appointments, that rescheduling had a domino effect that caused all kinds if
appointment conflicts and changes.
I did manage to squeeze in a little time on the cutting machine and I designed several
strips of shingles. Ignore the colors, I am using up a stack of old card sheets.
green - regular 3-tab shingles
red - round shingles
blue- diamond shingles
orange - 3-tab shingles with rounded edges
black - wider slates
In this larger scale I could not get away with simple cuts between tabs, I made them
slots like real shingles. I think they look a lot better and I think that would apply down to O scale as well.

For a moment I thought you were branching out to building doll houses.
I think the slots do help in the appearance of your roofing. Quite a lot, in fact.
