I've been working on this little project for several months. As a kid, I remember going to the great Christmas parties that EMD threw for the employees and their kids. My dad was a 'plank owner' of EMD and the Lagrange Plant. He dedicated 43 years of his life to it. I have fond memories of him telling about his first job as a Gandy Dancer at age 9 during the Great Depression on the B&O, and getting that dream job at EMD as a machinist apprentice.
So, while not a Santa Fe follower, This picture has inspired me to attempt a recreation.....

The models are NOS Stewart F3's. 3 of the units are the correct Phase I high fan models. The 4th is a Phase III low fan (could't find a match anywhere). That B unit was an undecorated model. I had a heck of a time trying to at least come close to getting that lower striping.
I ended up making that decal using Photoshop and decal paper. Even the single stripe decals were/are unavailable.
All the grab irons were made with .016 brass wire.

Handrail detail

The homebrew side decal

The low fan Phase III :erm:

Waiting for the Dullcote....on my $25 paint TT.

After I get 'the shot' to match the original, I'll do a little light weathering. The sound decoder is in second B unit, and sounds great.
