    Beautiful Jim! While I'm not a Sante Fe fan either, those units are classics! Well done!

    Two suggestions. First, you mention a single sound decoder. If you really want to blow your socks off, put a second sound decoder in a second unit, preferably the two A units, or an A and second B, spacing them apart. You will be shocked at just how much better it sounds with two sounds rather than just one. With the great job you did on these, they deserve it!

    Second suggestion, it appears that you used standard Kadee #5 couplers, resulting in the units being spaced a little too far apart from on another. Swap them out with the short shank couplers that will result is a closer coupling. It will improve the appearance of the lash up dramatically.

      Thanks Mark,

      The sound unit is in one B unit. It's the 16 bit Digitrax programmable decoder with the F3 sound project loaded, and it sounds terrific. I've got another one and may pop it in later. All 4 units are powered and with the sound decoder, it's sucking up some serious power. All of the Kadees' are the short shank version. I think the photo angle and lighting setup ( shop light ) is accentuating the gap between the units.

              Wow, what a Birthday present for me!! (7-15-48)

              I can't wait to put them on the front of my El Capitan for a trip down the transcon!

                  I agree with Mark, especially on the sound. Multiples running slightly out of synch are fabulous....

                  And I see that I'm gonna have to order up some Birthday Cake. Time to call the bakery!

                                Question:

                                Does anyone know what the different color bonnets meant or stood for(war, yellow, blue etc.)

                                I like'em all just don't know why they had all the colors, and did they run any together in the same consist? (pics?). Thanx Thom...
