Been slowly adding the ceiling tiles above the layout. Toughest part is fitting them around the flood lights. But overall is making a massive difference in the room's appearance.

Here's a little pictorial update on the background and ceiling progress. First is the background by Hermanson Mill . For the most part, the entire background has had another mid distance range of hills added in brownish fall tones, to separate the closer layers from the far distant hills. The building will become a vinegar and pickle plant soon
From there , the next few shots show the progress on the ceiling. Obviously not finished yet, but you can see how the colors will eventually add a continuation of the storm coming in from the lake, in the first photo below, then to the clearer skies to the southeast in the second photo.
At least you can see how the idea is coming to life. Still gotta tone down the yellow in the sunrise area. In photographs they just dominant the whole sky.
There's always something to improve on.Last edited by David_J_Buchholz; 10-27-2021, 11:33 PM.Home of the HOn3 North Coast Railroad, along the shores of Lake Ontario.

I was thinking over an airbrush overspray in light grey or a matt finish as in person it's too shiny.Last edited by David_J_Buchholz; 10-28-2021, 01:32 PM.Home of the HOn3 North Coast Railroad, along the shores of Lake Ontario.

Here's a before and after picture of the acoustic tile ceiling that is being installed. You can see what a difference the wraparound effect of both installation and painting makes a big in the overall illusion of the miniature worlds we create.

With political correctness being what it is of late, I'd need a song entitled "Night on Folicly Challenged Elevations"
I got to Home dpot after work to grab ONE 24x48 ceiling tile. I actually only need 24x28 to finish the ceiling without a seem that a 24x24 piece would require. The piece at HD had a single unit SKU on it, but apparently HD doesn't sell them individually. Had to con the manger into a scratch and dent deal of $5.00 for something he'd need to otherwise discard in his dumpster as unsalable.

I finally got around to designing a herald for the North Coast Railroad. The inspiration was simple enough, as the actual prototype railroad was the "Rome Watertown & Ogdensburg Railroad" which eventually was bought out by the New York Central. There logo before the NYC buyout was a four leaf clover as shown below. it was simple enough to alter the background colors and add NCRR into the clover design.
