Ed....Good to know you are alive and well. I thought you might have had a heart attack or died laughing when you saw the drawings I sent. As I said, no rush. Contact me at your convenience. Thanks.

I have sent Ed an e-mail with my project idea and he said send the info I had and he would take a look. A few days later I e-mailed drawings and dimensional data using e-mail in his post. Several weeks have passed and I have sent 2 more e-mails just to verify he received the info I sent. I have not heard a word on any of my e-mails since the very first one. Now I am wondering if Ed has fallen ill or something. I am in no rush for my small project but not hearing anything back at all, I am concerned about his well being. Does anyone have any info on Ed? I hope all is well and he is on vacation in the South to escape the winter.

Thanks to all again for your replies. Getting on the Railroad Line Forums was one of my best decisions. What a bunch of helpful folks.
Got an e-mail reply from Ed Traxler and I will be sending him all the info I can on the tank car dome I need drawn. If all of this comes to fruition, (production via Shapeways) I'll do my best to post some photos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.

Thanks Russ and Bill for your replies. I have sent Ed Traxler an e-mail thru his Deep River RR website. I plan to do at least 4 UP tank cars and the domes were 69 inch in diameter. The collar that connects the dome to the tank car has a double row of offset rivets around it and will be a bear to try and copy by hand, especially for 4 or more cars. The Athearn single dome tank car will be a base for my model. With only a few other details added and the right trucks (which I have from Kadee) this makes a pretty close copy. Thanks.....John

Ed just finished up a project for Rusty Stumps so I'm sure he can handle yours.

Try Ed Traxler. He's done a bunch of nice work and is about as knowledgeable a person on the subject as anyone else I've seen.

Cad work for Shapeways
Is there anyone on the forum that can or will do some cad design work for a Shapeways project? I have a future project to build some Union Pacific tank cars and need a new tank dome and collar for a more prototypical look. I can provide a hand drafted detail for someone to work from, scan that and e-mail to who ever is interested. Thanks....John
