    My scratchbuilt Gallows turntable

    Hi all,

    The job was rather fiddly but finally i finished it. There are 88 real brass bolts and the rope is also a real one but of course a very thin one. To fix the rope was the most difficult part, cursed from time to time

    here are some pics.

      Just beautiful, Paul! The covered pit ends the need to shovel out the deep snow giving your crew a break. Your well-crafted model gives me an idea for my own layout.

              Very well done. Tell me it's not N scale

              I have used picture hanging cable available at most fabric stores. Yes, it is hard to keep it straight.

                Hi Mario,

                of course it`s n scale;-) Want a proof? Ok, here is a photo with a ruler:

                The rope used had to be tense and it worked after several tentatives!

                Is that picture hanging cable not too thick for n scale, or are you building in a bigger scale?

                      What he means about the "covered pit ends..." is that by having the entire pit covered by the top of the turntable, your crews don't need to shovel the snow out of the pit to get the table to turn. That is a concern for turntables in places where serious snow occurs.
