        • Thanks guys!

Bob, I suppose the purpose of boot guards was to prevent scrambled legs.

Andre, you might want to look for that email in the junk folder.

          Bill, gesundheit!

Greg, I was more of a Tom Swift fan.

          • Hi Mike,

The two bobbers are a home run! Are you turning third and heading for home?

            Great work,

              • Thank you, Dave and Ted.

Dave, the list of things to be done is getting short although every so often I realize that I am forgetting something.

Ted, words like “beautiful” are nice to hear.

                    • Frank, thank you for checking up on what I’ve been doing and for your kind words.

Ted, I feel I must be magnanimous and accept “terrific” as well.

                      • Trackwork continues.

I have reached the point where ties have been painted in shades of brown and gray and I have started carefully (and slowly) ballasting.

                        • I decided a jig would help me drill holes for grabirons. I try to construct jigs that I can use both for drilling holes and forming the grab.

I took care to make the jig reversible so that grabs for all corners would be identical:

Drilling the first hole; I snuggle the bit up into the little notch. That notch will be used in bending the grab.

                          Drilling the second hole:

To form the grab I make a right angle bend in 0.010" wire and stick it through the hole in the jig, holding it so that it lines up with the notch . . .

                          I make the second right-angle bend . . .

                          To get this:

The whole process actually goes pretty fast.

                          Mike
