  • Question: D-and-RGW tender steps, black or silver?

Hi...I am new here (see my introduction if you are interested). While I am not what you might call a 'rivet counter', I like to be historically accurate where possible. When did the D&RGW begin painting the steps on their tenders silver?

Many thanks for any guidance here...

    Vern,

No answer for you unfortunately, but I'd recommend asking over on the HOn3 Yahoo group - if you're not a member over there yet, you should definitely jump in. You'll find a wealth of knowledge, both on a number of prototypes, including the Rio Grande, and on modeling in HOn3 in general.

        Vern,

Just remembered this forum. Give it a try. They are more into prototype than modeling. Could be a great source of info.

Thank you Bernd, signed up today! While I don't plan to begin counting rivets anytime soon, info about the prototype always helps us reflect 'the real' in miniature...it's up to us how to put the information to use.

            Vern,

I highly recommend the above NG discussion forum. There is a heavy Colorado slant there, but you will find info about just about anywhere. I am looking forwards to seeing what you come up with.

Your welcome Vern. I wasn't insinuating you are a rivet counter. Just wanted to let you know that modeling was not discussed much on there.

Here's a challenge for you. Build a working model of this Barrel Transfer. I have collect many pictures of this and would like to scratch build one some day.

You'll find a discussion on the NG forum about it here: http://ngdiscussion.net/phorum/read.php?1,174256,174256

                Enjoy.

This was all I could find. I'm assuming that prior to 11-11-41 they were silver.

Thanks! I have been looking at photos, so far I can't see a rhyme or reason...
