    I've just come across this challenge/thread. I'm going to knock some ideas around in my head to see if I can come up,with a theme that will grab me.

    BTW if someone needs Peco or Graham Farish N scale 4 wheel wagons check out this site-

    They have tons at very reasonable prices.

    Off to find some inspiration.

      I'm watching!

      Sounds like a very cool idea and I'm very tempted. However I have promised myself NO TANGENTS! My show layout I am building (6' by 3'4" in HO scale)has many of the same goals and I'm determined to keep on task! I'll be watching with interest as your projects come together. I'm particularly taken by the zoo railroad idea - very cool.

        For anyone looking for tight radius track templates I found the mother load. The templates are for street track so double check the rail center. When I printed the templates and checked, the rail would go on the outside of each side of the rail in the templates.

            I have been printing templates all afternoon, cutting and taping them together to get a plan of what I want to do. I placed a small order of street track to give it a try for ON30. I ordered one set of switches, one set of strait track and one set of 10" radius curves.

              Great find Larry. Found this in my distracted travels. Hopital St. Jean-de-Dieu in Montreal had a electric tram running the halls. Nice snow plow on the front for slow moving wheel chairs.



              I thought it might inspire. 1:1 still getting in the way of any hope of joining in the fun. Still have my fingers crossed.

                  Heath, on your post I am thinking that is 20" or 18" gauge, so using HO track 1/32 or 1/30 scale. I already found some nurses in that scale.

                  Geezer, lots of stuff is going through my mind. Those Bachmann trolleys would make a nice small layout once they are converted to DCC.

                    Regarding the online shop I mentioned earlier where N scale wagons are sold, don't bother going there. The shop located in an historic railroad depot in East Rochester, NY sadly had a catastrophic fire late yesterday afternoon and was totally destroyed. It's a real shame as it was the oldest building in the town with a long rich railroad history and the hobby shop was a treasure trove of current, older and collectible stock. Needless to say the model railroad community has suffered a great lost. The only good thing was that because of the holiday it was closed and no one was in the shop.

                    Rochester, NY local TV stations and the Democrat & Chronicle newspaper have coverage.

                      That indoor tram is something I had never imagined. I sincerely hope it was battery-powered; I see no overhead wire. Also, I wonder if the patient-catcher on the front was factory, or a later addition.

                          Since the train is in Quebec I would not rule out the plow being for snow, maybe to plow a way out of the building after a big storm. ;-)

                            Here's a question. Was there a similar tram in the James Bond movie You Only Live Twice? Near the end, in the mountain with the rocket. Even if it did not have one, might be a good theme for a layout.
