  • Rockey's Tavern in 1/2" Scale

For about a week I have been working on a 1/2" scale version of Rocky's Tavern by Woodland Scenics. Imagine my surprise when I logged in this morning to see a thread on the HO build of this neat looking building. When I was in HO scale I did a few of these metal kits and I thought they were outstanding. When I got into On30, I had a template of the HO version and wanted to build it in O scale, which never happened. I have been dabbling in 1/2" scale for the past few months when I came across the template and decided to do a build in 1/2".

While the footprint is not exactly the same I think it gives the impression of a corner tavern. The building is cardstock braced with square strips and all glued together on a 1/8" plywood base.

The stonework is 1/2" foam cut into blocks and rounded over with a sanding block, glued together with yellow wood glue.

I gave it a coat of Americana Craft Paint Desert Sand thinned down. The next step is the brickwork.

Tony, That's fantastic. I think that's a great subject and I also work in 1/24 scale so I'll

be following your build with great interest.

    Cheers,

    Bob

I agree, Tony. This should be a fun build. I like the looks of those foam blocks.
