      Hi All

my quick 2 cents. I've posted some builds before and inevitably someone will post pictures of the same build done earlier. My feelings are: if this person feels he has to show his build as "LOOK AT ME". "I'VE DONE THIS BUILD" "SEE MINE IS BETTER". that this is their problem and their hangup. I have noticed occasionally an "OLD TIMER" will pop in some of their build pictures just to say, "SEE, I DID IT FIRST". One of my threads was high-jacked and it did offend me.

I don't really mind if someone posts a pic on my thread if it is related to the topic. Sometimes I ask for pics to be posted but not always. I do appreciate any constructive criticism on my posts.

when I comment on anyone else's posts I try to weigh their modeling experience with my comment. for example I may say to a new modeler that their model looks good but the comments for the same model done by a modeler of greater experience might have some suggestions or observations that I have made about how to make the model better. It's certainly not because I feel my modeling is better, I just think about what I am trying to do now and what I was able to do say 5 years ago...I try to nitpick myself to get to a higher level.

Now everyone go back to modeling.

Can't help my self I have to post.

I would like to vent about having to go to work.

It really takes away from my modeling time.

It stops me from visiting some of your fine layouts.

I really think my wife fluffy should just tell me I don't have to go anymore.

Oh in regard to Geezers vent.

I have had a few of my build threads go way sideways... anyone remember the search for Joes wife in my 30's gas station build? The good news on that one was I got to see a bunch pictures of fine looking swimsuit models while I was building.

Maybe we should continue that search here to change the topic. Sorry Rick I had to do it.

Personally, I don't post to boast. I post to encourage, educated AND TO BE encouraged and educated. I expect and want a two way road. On my structures builds I got much constructive criticism some with pictures to guild their counsel that I greatly appreciate. It helps me be a better modeler and that's important to me. And then, I gotten at least one comment that annoyed me simply because of timing. On my Victorian Cottage build I spent days and pages discussing color choice before I cut one piece of wood. Then after it's built I get some clown (who does excellent work BTW) criticize my final color choices.[!]

              Hi all,

As a newby, I am a bit confused by all of this.

I have posted on a couple of threads, about DCC issues, and got what I thought were positive responses.

I don't quite understand this "hijacking" concept. Are you all saying that it would be improper for me to post a photo of my "build" on a relevant thread without first asking permission from the threads "owner"??

I thought the concept behind this forum was to share our modeling with like minded individuals.

              Just asking.....

                Alright I'm finally back.

Larry, right now I'd much rather deal with Joe's ex wife.

Where's that picture of the girl on the tracks?

                Unfortunately I'm Just kidding.

Back to the subject at hand.

I've come into contact with many people at the jobs I've had.

The vast majority I liked and got along with very well.

                Some I didn't care for.

Did I quit my job because of those few?

No, I stayed away from them and mingled with those I liked.

Same with the people I deal with on the trains daily.

Most people are very nice and cooperative.

Some just have a chip on their shoulder or are just plain a holes.

When they start up I smile say have a nice day and move on.

I don't let it bother me.

And it has to be the same here.

I've made some great friends here.

Friends that have invited me into their homes and quite a few that I keep in touch with via email and the phone.

Then there are a very few that I stay away from and don't post any comments to their threads.

Doesn't stop me from enjoying the forum.

                Everybody is different.

Me, I encourage others to post suggestions, pictures and join me in building something.

Look at the engine house thread as just one example.

This forum in the early days was almost exclusively all group builds.

We'd all buy the same kit and build it.

                I thought that was great.

Not saying that is how everyone should be.

I understand that you want your thread to be just your project.

But if someone posts something in your thread, don't quietly sulk at home.

Let one of the mods know.

                We'll help out.

That's what we are here for.

As I was afraid would happen, I feel this thread has done more harm than good.

I've got a feeling that some will stop posting to the forum because of it.

I honestly and truly hope that I'm wrong about that.

I want you all to prove me wrong.

With that said, I'm going to lock up this thread.

                Need to vent?

                Drop me line

Or drop a line to Bruce, John, Larry, George, Russ or Allen.

Rick, as I just said, everyone is different.

It would be best to ask before joining in on someone else's thread.

You can always join in on one of builds.

                  Don't even have to ask.

That's assuming I find the time to build something again anytime soon.
