My wife is out of the country on a mission trip. So I have a little time to get some things done.
I figured I better do the backdrop before I do any scenery or get too much more track down that I can't get up on the benchwork.
So You could see that I have painted the whole wall a basic windjammer blue. Once that was completely dry. I the 3 blue paints that I have.
Darkest (Windjammer)...Medium blue (Sail Blue) white blue (Blue Dusk. I would start from the top and work my way down. I used a single 3" brush. I would add a color then the next. I had a mister bottle and would lightly mist the area that needed blending and blend the colors. I did this to the whole back drop

Great start on the backdrop. Is the bottom edge of the backdrop going to be painted or covered by scenery and buildings?quote:

Don't mind the mess on the bench work. I also have to get an order of 60 cockpit kits out by next Monday. Those containers have all the resin parts for some of the kits..I poured resin for 2 days...

It does run a little rough. But I plan to add some phosphor bronze feet to it. It should make it run smooth... my accucraft goose ran rough even with a big capacitor in it until I added the feet to it... now it runs flawlessly. You can't even see them on the goose unless you are looking for them...

Ty, I never thought of that. By installing a capacitor it improves running because of the stored energy. Kind of like an electric fuel tank. Hmmmm.

Ok I am still working on the backdrop. I decided I should go ahead ad get the lighting worked out too. I want to continue with the (shadow box style lighting) So I had to add 27" to the front of the existing shelves This brings out the lighting to the front of the layout. Here is the first section built with the lights installed. I still have to make the valances to the front of each row of lights. As a bonus this give me alot more storage space..
If you look at the pictures of the last post you can see where the shelving was added. . Sorry for the Glare...

I am not an artist.I am working on paper painting some trees. Still not really good at it.. But here is where I have started.
They say you really don't want to draw people to the backdrop..You want them see what's in front of it...I just going to keep it simple ....

Well,
I have been working hard over the past week trying to get the lighting finished up. I moved the shelving/roof out far enough to cover the entire bench work. I then added the lights followed by the valances.
I also added 1/2" foam partitions between the lights on the front closest to the entrance door to remove the glare you get form the lights. I placed the partitions in the center of each light so it would not cast a shadow.
I also placed 100w CFL equivalent bulbs at the rear and 60w CFL equivalent bulbs at the front to reduce any shadows on the rear wall caused by the valances
I took these pic with my phone. It looks alot better in real life...
