Kootenay Lake Sternwheeler Build

    I haven't posted in a while. Been busy with things that have taken me away from this project. I do have some photos to update with more to follow.

    Here is a look at the side with windows. I need to add the trim yet.



    There are two sets of stairs from the main deck to the passenger deck that flank the doors into the boiler room. I used Rusty Stumps stairs for this. I used additional stripwood to close the stairs between steps.



    The finished result stained and ready to be installed.



    That's it for now. I'll keep you posted.

        Nice to see you back at the sternwheeler build, Jeff. Closing the stairs is a simple yet not frequently used idea.

              Hard to believe it has been a month since I last posted. Summer weather takes me away from the workbench but I have made some progress. On the main deck on the fore end of the boiler room there is two sets of stairs to the second deck flanking two freight doors into the boiler room. The freight doors were scratchbuilt from styrene.

                    Looking very good Jeff!

                    Makes me feel like grabbing my tool belt,climbing those steps and start working on the upper decks!

                                Moving amidships there are freight doors on both the port and starboard sides of the ship, aft of the boiler room. They are cut out in this picture:



                                Back to Rusty Stumps, I modified a set of freight doors to make what I think is a reasonable facsimile to the photo references:
