    I am looking for some information on Oil Columns

    I have a PSC Oil Column model and it has a spout and what looks like a bottomless bucket hanging directly under the spout. It is way higher than any tender I have. No way could oil drop down into the tender from that height. Was there some sort of a big hose that attached to the bucket to get the oil in the tender?

    Any info would be appreciated as I now need to build the fueling station for the engine facility.

    This picture shows a water column and an oil column behind the water column. The oil had a hose that connected to the top and hung down to the tender.

      The Engineering News-record Volume 87, published 1921 has an article on page 183 titled "Design and Operation of Locomotive Fuel Oil Stations". In addition to describing in detail the setup (oil storage tanks, sumps, pumping etc. .. it also has three drawings of oil columns.

          NP. I found that by luck - I figured I could find something in Google books but saw that .. and immediately went .. "WOW! GOOD INFO!!"
