  • Diesel's for dummeys

This is the real dark side for a gear engine nut but, on Malcolm Furlow's San Juan Central layout He was running two little box cabs locomotives does anyone make them in HO and is there room for DCC. I might like to run them on my new Snug Harbor seaport layout. Thanks in advance Tom

    Tom,

I believe that they were Grandt-Line Box Cabs.

Out of the box, I've heard that they are not the greatest running engines. I'm not sure about DCC.

Thanks Bruce, after I wrote the question I got the mag. out and he said they ran decent and he put the decoder in the dummy cab. I will watch what others say. This forum is great place to find out almost anything. Thanks again Tom

Grandt Line also had a Hood Version kit.

it looked sort of like half a 44 tonner.

        never saw either version run.

and both could be had as HOn3 versions, likely

modifiable to HOn30 or Meter Guage-42".

You can put dcc in them easily while you are building the units add lots of lead inside as well use a small decoder like the TCS M1. Grand it line drives can be a little tricky to get to run well but they run slow. Track contact is another issue so wiring two together is much better.
